Equivaient Circuit of the Transversely Vibrating Uniform Bar

The single series resonance circuit has generally been adopted for the equivalent circuit of the resonator of electromechanical filter. But this circuit is not always suitable for the design of the wide-band mechanical filter, because at this circuit, the degree of impedance deviation from the mechanical impedance of resonator increases as the difference from the resonance frequency does.
This paper deals with the approximate equivalent circuit, which is applicable as the equivalent circuit of the transversely vibrating uniform bar covering the wide band of frequency.
These results obtained here are useful for a guiding principle of the design of wide-band imechanical filter which consists of the transversely vibrating bar.
In the first place, the impedance of several equivalent circuits is compared with the driving point impedance of the transversely vibrating bar.
Secondly, the calculated attenuation curves of an H type mechanical filter which adopted the approximate equivalent circuit of the transversely vibrating bar as the circuit of the resonator are shown, and the influence of the deviation of the equivalent circuit on the filter characteristics is indicated.
