Some considerations on the Spectrophotometric
Determination of Hydrogen Sulfide

Several examinations have been done on the methylene blue method for the microdetermination of hydrogen sulfide. As the result, the present investigation confirmed that methylene blue was completely extracted by 1,2-dich1oroethane from an aqueous solution in the existence of sufficient amounts of perchloric acid, and that the absorbance of the extracted solution was not affected by the coexisting substance in aqueous solution. Then, it was made clear that this extraction method was applicable to the determination of hydrogen sulfide.
Because of complexities of the effects of experimental conditions on the determination, the experimental programming method was applied to decide the optimum condition.
